Before your appointment
If you have an upcoming outpatient appointment at Alder Hey, you may be wondering if there’s any important information that you need to know before you visit us. This page will tell you everything you need to know so that you can make sure that you’re ready when you need to come and visit.
The first thing you need to do is read your appointment letter in full and take note of any specific instructions.
Some may receive their appointment details via a text message or via our patient information portal, but you will still receive the same information.
In your appointment letter, you may be asked to provide a list of medications your child is currently taking or to bring them along with you to your appointment so it is important you read it fully. You should also bring your appointment letter with you, so that we may assist you with directions should you need them.
We also encourage you to check the location of your appointment, as it may not actually be in our hospital. If you need some further information on how to get to our various locations across Liverpool, including where to go and where to park, you can find it all in our locations section.
Visiting guidance
Before you come to Alder Hey, it’s important to know if there are any restrictions in place, such as the number of family members who can accompany a child or young person. There may also be some requirements that you should be aware of in advance, such as our mask-wearing policy. It’s important to know this information so that you can plan accordingly, by ensuring the right amount of people attend. You are welcome to bring your own facemask to your appointment, however, we have stations set up all over our campus to provide facemasks and hand sanitiser.
