Local facilities
Thanks to the central location of our Children’s Health Campus (which includes our hospital), you’ll find plenty of local businesses and facilities just a few minutes’ walk or drive away.
Springfield Park
Our Children’s Health Campus proudly sits within Springfield Park, a vibrant, welcoming local park that connects people to nature. It consists of a dedicated play area, a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA), opportunities for children to play in nature and, of course, lots of greenery. Find out more about Springfield Park.
Local shops and restaurants
You’ll find plenty of local shops, takeaways, and restaurants within easy walking distance of Alder Hey. Eaton Road and East Prescot Road both have plenty of places for you to pick up some essential items, grab a quick bite to eat, or even get your hair cut.
Supermarkets and petrol
Alder Hey is located just a short walk away from Sainsbury’s (L14 5PT) with a spacious car park that can be accessed from the East Prescot Road entrance. It has an in-store cafe, pharmacy, petrol station and a range of clothing. Aldi and Tesco stores are also nearby, and the Old Swan area has a large Tesco superstore and a number of high-street shops and services.
City centre
Liverpool city centre is located around five miles from Alder Hey and is easily accessible by car, taxi, or public transport (via East Prescot Road). There is a taxi rank at the East Prescot Road entrance to the hospital building and there are also free phones in the hospital atrium to call a private hire taxi.
Cycling routes
The Transpennine Trail (National Cycle Route 81) from Southport, Merseyside to Hull, Yorkshire passes close by the perimeter of our Children’s Health Campus. We have cycle parking facilities located outside our Emergency Department.
For visitors of different faiths
We have compiled a list of places of worship and local delis for visitors of different faiths. This is not a comprehensive list but may be helpful if you are visiting from outside the local area.
