Listening to children and young people
We take the views of children and young people very seriously. After all, who better to tell us how to provide the best possible care to children and young people than themselves?
To help us to do this, we have a number of youth participation groups that are available for children and young people to join. We’ll outline them below.
The Youth Forum @ Alder Hey
We are a diverse community of 8 to 18-year-olds that use our voices to influence the decision making and innovations for the future at Alder Hey. We are confident that by working together we can contribute to the success of a world-renowned service and are united in our purpose to ensure the voices of children and young people are heard
What to expect when you attend, you will
• Build your self confidence
• Gain Knowledge that you’re making things better
• Be involved in many different projects
• Engage with a variety of professional and influential people from different organisations
The Forum provides opportunities to meet other children and young people, gain new skills and qualifications, explore potential careers within health care, and empowers children and young people to share their ideas and work as partners in care to make Alder Hey a world-renowned service.

Transform (formerly FRESH CAMHS)
In 2015, a group of young people who had experience of CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) launched a campaign, with the support of Alder Hey, to fight the stigma of mental health. This fresh look at mental health aims to promote and increase understanding of mental health conditions, as well as change the way specialist mental health treatment is delivered and improve the experience of other young people.
For more information, plus resources and support for young people, visit the FRESH CAMHS website.
Camhelions
The Camhelions is a way for children and young people to participate in service improvements within Sefton and Alder Hey. The Camhelions ensure your voice and opinions are listened to, to make a positive change. By joining us it’s a great opportunity to talk to other people around your age and take part in different and interesting projects and help make improvements to the service for other young people. For more information you can contact the Camhelions on [email protected] or follow us Twitter at @camhelions.
