Other Staff and Volunteers
Term of office 2023 to 2026
Who am I?
I’m John Ashton from Chester, a bereaved parent, and a retired Chartered Surveyor and currently a Welcomer and Volunteer at the Alder Centre, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital’s Child Bereavement Centre. My wife and I have been involved with the Alder Centre in several roles since its inception in 1989 following the loss of our son who had been treated for neuroblastoma at the Hospital.
What do I bring to this role?
I wish to commit to using my life experiences from family, work, and volunteer perspectives to benefit this super Institution.
I understand that both the Alder Centre and the Hospital are superb examples of world leading practice, professionalism and loving care shown continually and I wish to help the whole Hospital continue to pursue the same path in this continually challenging world.
This aim has intensified following the completion of our wonderful new building and the desire of all involved is to maximise its use for the benefit of all those affected by the loss of a child.
I would also wish to use my 40 plus years of work/business experience to achieve this goal.
