Louise Oni – Nephrology Consultant
Dr. Louise Oni graduated as a medical doctor (MBChB) from the University of Liverpool in 2003 and has since achieved a MA in medical ethics and Law and a Child Health PhD. She works clinically as a Paediatric Nephrology Consultant in the Clinical Academic Department of Paediatric Nephrology, Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust Hospital, Liverpool. The Department specialises in managing children with all causes of kidney disease, including children with kidney failure and kidney transplants. The team manage children needing dialysis including peritoneal dialysis, inpatient haemodialysis and home haemodialysis.
She is employed by the University as a member of the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health, Institute of Life course and medical sciences. She leads the kidney inflammation research workstream with a translational research group and has an interest in childhood glomerulonephritis. She is currently working on standardising the care for these conditions as a foundation for future clinical trials and interrogating the scientific origins of the kidney inflammation. She works in close partnership with her Paediatric Nephrology clinical colleagues, Paediatric Urologists and the Clinical Academic Department of Paediatric Rheumatology and she is a member of the Experimental Arthritis Treatment Centre for children (EATC4C) group. She collaborates with others across the city, country and internationally.
