Alder Hey were visited today by Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside, Mark Blundell, to present the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service to our dedicated volunteer team.
The team actually won the award last year, but were unable to formally receive it due to covid restrictions. However, the team were presented with the prestigious award today during an event in our Institute in the Park building.
Two of our lucky volunteers, Tom and Pam, also visited Buckingham Palace last month for a celebration event related to the award. They were invited to an exclusive garden party at the palace and even got to meet HRH Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
We’re delighted that our volunteers have received this illustrious honour. Congratulations to all of our hospital, charity, and community volunteers, it’s thoroughly deserved!
The 1st – 7th June is also Volunteers Week. If you’d like to find out more about being a volunteer here at Alder Hey, click the button below.
