Alder Hey will be featured within a special film on the BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire show this Thursday 4th February (between 9.15am and 11am on BBC News Channel and BBC2).
The film is focusing on bereavement support for families across the country and is being narrated by Antoinette Sandbach MP. During a recent debate in the House of Commons, Antoniette spoke bravely about her own experience when her son died and how it prompted her to seek more support and services for parents who lose a child. She was keen to focus on the support she received from the Alder Centre, highlighting it as an example of a centre offering the very best support for bereaved parents in the UK.
The Alder Centre at Alder Hey is a dedicated service providing support for anyone affected by the death of a child. The Centre offers bereavement, counselling and support services and the national Child Death Helpline is also based at Alder Hey. Anyone who needs support can contact this freephone helpline 24 hours a day on 0800 282 986 or 0808 800 6019 for mobiles.
The Alder Centre also run a number of activities throughout the year including holistic therapies, therapeutic breaks and support groups which provide support in a relaxing, comfortable environment.
