Alder Hey is set to feature once again in the final episode of BBC's Hospital series.
Hospital was filmed by Label1 and tells the stories of patients and staff at Alder Hey along with the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, the Walton Centre, the Liverpool Women’s Hospital, Aintree University Hospital and the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital.
Shown from multiple perspectives, audiences witness the complexities of the decision-making that consultants, surgeons and managers face every single day, and the impact these decisions have on patients.
Against the backdrop of historic demands stemming from limited resources, increasing patient numbers and social care at full stretch, the series has shown the extraordinary work of some of Liverpool’s 20,000 NHS hospital staff as they push the boundaries of what is possible with world class, cutting edge treatments and life-saving operations.
The latest episode features our amazing neurosurgery and oncology teams as the series goes behind the scenes at Alder Hey and at Liverpool Heart and Chest.
The cameras follow the stories of three Alder Hey patients; Abigail and Thomas who both have cerebral palsy and who have a Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) operation at Alder Hey.
The episode also follows the story of one year old Jaxon, who has a tumour and is being treated by our oncology team.
Don’t forget to tune in to BBC2 on Thursday 14th February at 9pm.
