If you watched the recent episode of BBC's Hospital then you'd have seen one of our consultant paediatric surgeon's Professor Simon Kenny.
Also a professor at University of Liverpool, Simon has worked at Alder Hey since 2003. His surgical interests include minimally invasive paediatric surgery & urology & he has research interests in regenerative medicine & long-term outcomes in paediatric surgery.
Since 2017, Simon has been national clinical lead for paediatric surgery in Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) programme & is a clinical adviser & board member of the National Clinical Improvement Programme (NCIP). Simon chairs the Clinical Outcomes Committee of the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons & is a patron of the Hirschsprung’s disease charity CHAMPS. In 2019 he was appointed as National Clinical Director for Children & Young People for NHS England.
"Alder Hey is somewhere where children & families come first. It is fantastic to work with the best group of clinicians, nurses, managers & staff I have come across in the NHS & abroad. The combination of high quality clinical services, strong national & international relationships, strong links with patient & parent support groups, research and innovation is an example for the NHS in general."
