Baby Alex switches on Alder Hey Christmas lights

30th Nov 2018

It was a fantastic day at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital yesterday, as we officially kicked off the Christmas countdown with our annual Christmas light switch on.

Our VIP guest for the day, Baby Alex - who you may remember from the now infamous video posted on our social media channels back in July - was joined by mum Jen, dad Paul and big brother Joe for the day’s main event.

We were also joined by Adam and Dylan from Capital Liverpool’s breakfast show, who were kind enough to give up their time to attend and make the day that extra-bit special.

There was a plethora of activity including; face painting; a magic show; and an appearance from Santa Claus himself, to name a few!

We had some very special visitors from St. Margaret Mary’s Primary School choir, who came and sang beautifully to warm up the crowd for the big countdown. Then the Alder Hey Staff Choir took over the reins to close out what was a truly magical afternoon.

You can catch up with everything that happened on the day on our Twitter, Instagram and Facebook pages now.

This wonderful occasion would not have been possible without the help and support of many people/partners including:

• Baby Alex and Family
• The Alder Hey Patient Experience Team
• The Alder Hey Volunteers
• The Alder Hey Staff Choir
• The Christmas Decorators – who donated the Christmas tree and decorations, outdoor lights and Santa’s Grotto
• Taskers Liverpool
• Adam & Dylan
• St. Margaret Mary’s Primary School
• Barrington the Magician
• Our costumed characters
• Interserve and the Christmas Project Group

Also a special mention for Alder Hey’s Events Manager, Gill Kennedy, who worked night and day to pull the whole thing together.

Thank you all and have a very Merry Christmas from everyone at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital!
