Congratulations to our eight Prince’s Trust participants, who have completed their eight-week placement within Alder Hey last week and were handed their certificates at St. Mary's Millennium Centre last week!

In partnership with Alder Hey, the Prince’s Trust offered an eight-week placement working within the NHS.

Applicants did not require any previous experience or qualifications and the placement was aimed at those aged between 18 and 30 years old.

As part of the placement, participants were given an introduction into life within the NHS, while working within clinical or admin-based roles.

They also received dedicated NHS specific CV support and interview practice, as well as financial support with interviews, DBS checks and travel to work.

Anne Marie Davies, Senior Programme manager at Alder Hey said: “Seeing these kids today has been amazing, we’ve started something for them that they would never have had the opportunity to do. They’ll have NHS lanyards on soon, all of them!”

Aaliyah Nantale, who completed her placement in the Dewi Jones Unit, praised the effect the time at Alder Hey has had on her.

She said: “It has widened my perspective of what happens within the NHS and in healthcare, especially being in the Dewi Jones unit. Getting closer to the kids and the staff and understanding them was a really important part for me.

“It has really widened my skillset, regarding who I can work with. Being able to work with kids that have problems that I’ll probably be seeing in the future with the line of work that I want to go into was amazing.”
