1st-7th June is ‘Volunteers’ Week’ where we celebrate the wonderful work our volunteers at Alder Hey do to support patients, families and staff, with a series of events. Alder Hey NHS Trust is proud to currently have over 400 active volunteers. Our “Pink People” as they are often called, provide reassurance, a warm welcome and spend time really getting to know our patients and their families all in their own time.
From guiding people to their appointment, to arts and crafts activities within different departments such as A&E, our volunteers help children to pass the time and put them at ease. They can allow families/carers to take a much needed break and can be someone to have a chat with in what can be a sensitive time.
They also collect our patient and Family and Friend questionnaires which help us to improve the services we provide
The Alder Hey Charity has also called on volunteers for many campaigns and events, such as the recent Oli walk at Knowsley Safari Park, where they give their time generously.
