13th Dec 2019
On Thursday 12th December, Liverpool FC's first team came to Alder Hey to visit patients, families and staff.
Before heading out onto the wards, the players met two of our amazing patients - Joseph and Emmy. Both patients got some one to one time with the players and came away with plenty of LFC merchandise, including a signed shirt.
The players then headed out onto the wards to spread some festive cheer - you can see more from the visit on our Twitter.
During the visit, one group of players met Lola and, since it was her birthday, the players seranaded her with a verse of "Happy Birthday".
Another group of players, led by manager Jurgen Klopp, met Kai - a massive Liverpool fan. After spending some quality one to one time with the manager, he was then surprised by captain Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum and Naby Keita. You can watch the magical moment below...
As always, after the players had visited patients and families, they then took the time to meet and get photos with our hard working staff.
But it wasn't all about what was happening on the wards... Liverpool also brought the Champions League trophy in with them, which was on display in our atrium for anyone and everyone to get a photo. Needless to say, it was quite popular!
That concludes our football visits for this year and we speak for everyone when we say that we cannot wait for them to return!
