Mental health support for children and young people affected by situation in Ukraine

The events unfolding in Ukraine are horrific to see and worrying for us all, and for children and young people

During these times, we will all feel different emotions. For children and young people, these times will be difficult to process and there is a range of help available now, and will no doubt will be more available in time, to specifically help them understand and deal with the current events.

It may be that it sets up specific support over the coming days/weeks so please keep an eye out for that. 

If children and young people are worried about their mental health as a result of the issues in Ukraine, they can be are signposted to our Crisis Care team. The CAMHS Crisis Care service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be contacted via Freephone 0808 196 3550 or 0151 293 3577. You can find out more about the team here

Children and young people can also text Shout to 85258, a free, confidential, 24/7 text message support service for anyone who is feeling overwhelmed or is struggling to cope. The service is staffed by trained volunteers, who will work with them to take the next steps towards feeling better. It helps with issues such as stress, anxiety and depression and are there to talk at any time of day or night.
