Alder Hey accepts referrals for a variety of services and conditions from GP’s, GDP’s and other healthcare professionals. Guidance on exact services can be found on the NHS e-Referral Service. Our Directory of Services (DOS) is currently being updated. As a general principle, referrals must contain details of the following.
• Full name • Date of birth • Address • Contact telephone number • NHS number • Next of kin • Ideally an indication of any translation needs or any additional needs that may require support should be included in the referral detail. • Past medical history • Current medications, treatment or pathways already commenced and any diagnosis already confirmed
We are currently rolling out NHS e-Referrals across the organisation and GP’s should use this method to refer routine patients into Alder Hey. We are also developing advice and guidance support within Alder Hey. Please keep checking our website for further details regarding this. Phlebotomy Services are currently offered to children on a walk in basis Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.15pm.
