On Saturday 26th of November at the World Museum in Liverpool, members of the NIHR Alder Hey Clinical Research Facility team took part in a University of Liverpool patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) event: ‘Meet the Scientist’. This public engagement event was a great opportunity for members of the public to come along and learn more about the ground-breaking research that happens at Alder Hey and in our Clinical Research Facility, and to meet our team, have fun with science, and hear how young people can get involved in our young persons’ advisory group, Generation R.
Representing NIHR Alder Hey Clinical Research Facility at the event were Sammy Ainsworth (PPIE Officer), Dan Hawcutt (CRF Director), and members of the Paediatric Medicines Research Unit (PMRU), Gaby Seddon (Research Coordinator), Louise Bracken (PMRU Co-Director) and Jennifer Duncan (Senior Research Pharmacist).
The team brought a variety of interactive and fun science activities exploring the process of randomisation and giving families the chance to see what it is like to work in a science laboratory.
The event at the World Museum Liverpool and all of the activities went really well, with lots of positive feedback from over 600 visitors who came to see the activities on display. We would like to thank the team involved in putting this activity together and the work that went in to making this such an informative but fun educational experience for visitors.
