Our Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) service at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital cares for children with both common and complex ENT conditions.

The ENT service is open from 7.30am to 5pm, Monday to Thursday. Please note we are closed on Friday afternoons.

Information for professionals

The Department of Paediatric Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery (Ear, Nose & Throat) is a secondary referral centre for children with common ENT conditions who require:

  • Adenoidectomy
  • Tonsillectomy
  • Grommet insertion

We are also a tertiary referral centre for children with complicated ear, nose and throat problems or complex medical histories.

The Ear, Nose & Throat Department has expertise in paediatric airway endoscopy and laryngeal reconstruction, bone anchored hearing aids, ENT management of Downs syndrome, complex ear pathology, paediatric head and neck pathology, correction of choanal atresia, Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis and other congenital abnormalities.

The Department also works closely with the Regional Cleft Lip & Palate Unit, the supra-regional Craniofacial Unit and the Long term Ventilation Unit.
