Community Occupational Therapy Liverpool

• Liverpool GP
• Age 0-5 years
• Pre-school children.
• Reception age children up to and including the first half term of transition.

In addition:

• Born at < 28 weeks or have had a turbulent birth history OR/AND
• Developmental delay (not sitting by 8 months) OR/AND
• Liverpool Women’s Hospital report abnormality on early scan OR/AND
• Delay in fine motor development resulting in functional difficulties and evidence of how these are impacting on the child’s ability to participate in their daily activities OR/AND
• Condition/ diagnosis resulting in functional difficulties and evidence of how these are impacting on the child’s ability to participate in their daily activities OR/AND
• OT equipment needs identified to support engagement in functional activities including 24-hour postural management programmes

• Children who are 5 years plus and in reception class, after their first half term, these will be signposted to the Children’s OT Team at Liverpool City Council
• GP and nursery/ school out of area
• Fine motor difficulties that are not impacting on the child’s ability to carry out daily tasks.
• Mobility and gross motor coordination issues in isolation – please refer to Community Physiotherapy
• Sensory processing – please consider referral to the sensory service at Liverpool City Council
• Delay in or difficulties with motor skills resulting only from sensory processing differences – please consider referral to the sensory service in the first instance.
• Requests for minor adaptions ONLY, these should continue to be referred to LCC OT service
• Child that is managing their daily activities regardless of their diagnosis
• Emotional and behavioural management in isolation – please consider GP/Health Visitor
• Social communication and interaction difficulties – please consider referral to Speech and Language Therapy
• Wheelchair and buggy provision in isolation – please refer to GP for referral to Liverpool Wheelchair Service
