The Willy Russell Centre provides a specialist service for children and adults who stammer, in Liverpool. The service was originally established in the late 1970s and the Willy Russell Centre officially opened in 1995. The service is delivered by a team of highly trained and experienced specialist Speech and Language Therapists.
The Willy Russell Centre team provides assessment, advice, support and therapy for children and adults of all ages. The provision is tailored to each client’s unique circumstances. Therapists work in partnership with parents, in order to give them the knowledge and skills to support their children. As well as working with families, they work closely with teachers and other professionals, e.g. by providing advice and information.
As well as attending individual sessions, adults, older children, and parents are given the opportunity to attend group therapy. The peer support which it provides is invaluable for enabling clients to communicate more confidently.
