Our Therapeutic Breaks are the perfect space for families to meet with others who have also been bereaved. Supported by trained Alder Centre Volunteers who are themselves bereaved parents, the weekend breaks are paid for from the Alder Centre’s fund-raising activities.
Children can come together to enjoy each other’s company away from the pressures of day to day life. The therapeutic value of including them in a safe environment with other bereaved children is immensely important.
Adults too, have the opportunity to meet others who are also bereaved of a child, which helps normalise the experience. The break allows individual’s a space for themselves as well as the opportunity to mix with others – and many of the families, children and adults make long lasting friendships.
The 2025 Therapeutic break will take place 22nd-24th August at YHA Trafford Hall, Chester.
