Where you can sleep
In some cases, you may have to stay with us while your child is being treated. This can be overnight or for a longer period of time. If you need to stay with your child in our hospital, then you can use our parent beds which are located right next to the patient beds.
In private patient rooms, there is a couch that pulls out into a single bed. In the shared bays, you’ll find a pull-down bed to the side of each patient bed and pull-around curtains for privacy. We ask that only one parent stays overnight with their child in our wards unless special allowances have been made by the ward manager to allow both parents to stay.
For longer stays, you may be referred to Ronald McDonald House, an on-site facility near our hospital that offers bedrooms and apartments for parents and families of patients.
Food, drinks, and other refreshments
During your time with us, your child will be fed on the ward at regular mealtimes, unless there is a medical reason not to. However, we understand that you may want to grab yourself some food or drinks in the meantime.
We have facilities available such as the WHSmith (which includes a Marks and Spencer outlet) and Costa Coffee, which are both located in our hospital atrium. You’ll also find a restaurant, where you can get some hot food. Please check their opening times. You can find out more on our restaurants and shops page.
