About Ronald McDonald House Alder Hey
Ronald McDonald House Alder Hey or ‘Mac House’, as you may hear it called, is a facility located on our Children’s Health Campus and a short walk from our hospital. It is where parents, carers and family members can stay for longer periods of time to stay close to their child or loved one. You must ask your child’s care team to refer you if you need to stay here.
Ronald McDonald House Alder Hey staff are on hand 24 hours a day to provide any help you may need during your stay. The onsite facilities are also available day or night for you and your family members to use including kitchens, laundry, and common areas. Once a week, there is a home-cooked meal prepared by the family support team and volunteers.
Ronald McDonald House Alder Hey is the largest one in Europe, with 84 bedrooms, including 15 apartments designed for longer stays. It helps over 2,000 families per year from Merseyside and the North West, Cheshire, Lancashire, North Wales, Staffordshire and the Isle of Man.
